Compulsiveness is Bliss...

so learning to be a chef is grand. making people laugh is even better. the thing that sucks is that i cant make a buchemel sauce.
So class this week has been fun as always however, this week is no exception when it comes to making poeple laugh. mind you i dont mean to do it all the time but it happens.
So, you remember in school when teachers talk about something that one student did, it goes on for years and years.... yeah today that was me!!! I do my best to make a mark where ever it may be. If i'm not spilling something or breaking something I am some how making a mark.
While waiting on my roux , I was told to go dump the scraps in with the beef. Hum. Well I heard.. go over and dump scaps in with the beef. Not really paying attention to where I was supposed to really go and dupm them I dump them in the wrong pot. I dump them in with the noodles. They got a nice flavoring... scraps of carrots and onions... not too bad. The beef stock had noodles in it which gave some pretty coloring. I mean commonI do my best :D

I gave my professor a good laugh. Always. I do what I can.

I also failed twice to make the buchemel... and probably at spelling it ...
Anyway the first time it was a thick thickk like wallpaper paste. ew.
then the second time it was lumpy...ew.
So, at that point we said forget it and lets clean up so that we can eat !!!
:D ... becomming a chef is fun... I love it. I think its the best thing that i have been able to do.

Chef in the Making

There are several things that one has to learn when becomming a chef.

Step 1 Dont EVER leave a pot !!!
Step 2 Always Clean a burnt pot... well scorched is more like it.

These are two things that I have had to learn the hard way. I was learning to poach...I needed flour for the recipe, so naturally I went to go get the flour. No never having used a scale.. I was playing around with it. Well, I guess I was playing around with it too long.
When I came back.... My saute pan was well scroched. I came back and was like WHAT?! Chef Bernal comes over and says, " Yeah, you shouldn't have left you pot"
"What's the rule in the kithen if you've burnt your pot?"
"DUH, um, I dunno".
"Anyone who brns their food must clean the burnt pot ALWAYS!"

Good times. Cleaning a burnt pot, thats something that I want to spend my time in the kitchen doing.
She says thats ok that's why your the student.
TRUE VERY TRUE !!!
That is how we as chefs learn....
Never Leave a pot!!! Not only did I scorch the pot I burnt the chicken that I was paochin so we had to fix it. If I do say so myself I thought it was rather tasty !!

Pet Peeves at work continued....

Well as we roll on through the weeks I get more and more pet peeves at work. I get so incridiblely irritated with poeple and my boss.
My boss is one of them. She irratates the crap out of me. She's not direct and she's just odd.
I had new movies out ok, the ones for Tues. I don't have a car and well its kinda hard for me to get movies back to where they belong. So, I had one movie out that was due on Tues.Well This was one movie that we happened to have 130 copies of. More than half of them were in. minus one of course, i get written up! We had plenty of movies in. OK I honestly think that there is no reason for my being written up for this how ever our dm does. Silly District Manjor. ...

oh My friend just recently came over and did an article. Jen came in the store strak raving mad. no joke. at least from what I hear. She slammed the paper down and screamed did you see this?... the article wasnt about the store. The mere mention of movie gallery in the paper sent her off. All it said was that i worked there. not biggie right. apparnetly not.

Oh and the other day we were swamped at work Its a Saturday... its cold outside... swamped. Jens in the store.. she's just there to write people up and do paper work She can help out a wee bit she saw that we had cutomers in line....long lines i might add. Does she lift a finger to help?... NO she continues on her marry way writting people up and whatever else she was doing.
Then oh this is great I wanted to say Jen ya know what at this point ... I can finish the rest of it or i shouldnt... anyway, she had put some lables in the printer cause we were out of member numbers. She says shelly can you take those out. .... I have a huge line of customers waiting.. i have to take care of them first otherwise they get mad. Heaven forbid they should wait a minute. Well there was a new member that needed to sign an agreement, at that point i still hadnt had time to get the lables out. So the agreement printed on the lables instead of the proper printer paper. She says in a tone... I told her to take those out but i guess she didnt.

Sam (girl i was working with ) says Jen she's a little busy. Yeah just a little. I wanted to say something to Jen at that point. I have more things to worry about than taking out some paper from the pringer. Mind you these are your customers that you could possibly help out with.
ladies and gentlemen that is my boss. Just little things like that can make me edgey around her.
There was some akward moments as though she could tell that I wasnt happy with her comments. but what can i say to her ya know ;)
My next biggest pet peeve... people cant seem to put things back to where they belong. Every time i go and put movies on the wall i find several of them that are just scattered about. Oh and so these movies can just be movies that I can put back right there. They have to be ones that are all the way across the room. GRRR. Ok so it may be our job to put them away but when you decide that you dont want a movie then you put it away. Back where you got it . Because I know that if I went into your store, or house you would freak out if i did that to mess things up....
the life of a minimum wage person can be fun... i know that ive said that before but its sooo true :) THE END :)

Movies and the customers that I have to deal with

There are several things about our store that have changed. We have redecorated and redone our movie boxes so that its just the cover boxes. This will sometimes bothers me to no end.

Customers will bring up the wrong thing. So naturally we have to explain to them that the movie is just in the box so bring up the box. I think that half of our customers are ADD or something because they seem to forget this as soon as they come up. Its interesting because they will have two of the movies that are correct and then have a couple of them that arent correct. So we then have to tell them that you just bring up the box. At that point I look at whoever is working with me and we both kinda just go Yeah, ok. I have had some people ask me if we just bring up the box , i say yes , then they come back up a few seconds later. is this the box that I bring up?.... Didnt i just say yes. Hum.
Ah yes the general public is fun fun fun :)

My favorite thing is when people bring up porn and Christian movies such as the Gospel or adult mives and the Bible trivia game. Unfortunately there is nothing that I can say to these poeple.I will get yelled at not fired because my boss wont fire anyone.
Ah, life as a minimum wagde worker can be fun :)
